OUR STORY

Our story begins in the fast-paced world of Michelin-starred kitchens, where long hours and relentless service often left little time for a proper meal. In the whirlwind of high-pressure cooking, real comfort didn’t come from complexity — it came from something simple.

A plate of eggs. A proper egg sandwich. The kind of food you can enjoy at any time of day.​

This was something that stuck with me throughout my career and has now evolved into a brick and mortar called EGGZ. We created a concept with a menu that pays homage to the delis, neighborhood bodegas, and the iconic breakfast scene of New York City — places where mornings are loud, fast, imperfect, and full of life. Where egg sandwiches are wrapped in paper, coffee is always in hand, and breakfast is not a moment, but a way of living. We took that energy and translated it through quality ingredients, chef-driven technique, and a modern lens — building a menu that feels familiar, but hits differently.

OUR CHEF & FOUNDER

My name is Aleksa Žujović

Aleksa Žujović discovered his passion for cooking at just 12 years old, training under mentor Mirko Stojić at Dijagonala 2.0. He spent every free moment in the kitchen, learning and refining his craft.

In 2015, he joined Homa Restaurant, where he was inspired by chef Filip Ćirić and the rising fine-dining scene in Belgrade. This experience confirmed his decision to pursue cooking professionally.

He later studied at the Culinary Institute of America and staged at Osteria Francescana with Massimo Bottura. During the pandemic, he continued his education at École Ducasse in Paris, and in 2022 staged at Frantzén in Stockholm.

After returning to Belgrade, Aleksa chose to build his own vision and founded EGGZ — a New York–inspired breakfast concept, reimagined for the Belgrade scene.
